SCOPE OF INDEX:  This index covers regional (Montana) news only. It concentrates on political and historic items. Omitted are international and national news, sports news, editorials, letters to the editor, most society news, crime news and obituaries. Coverage of the 1950-1965 period is "very spotted".
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in one alphabetical order including both subjects and personal names. There may be more than one entry per card. Each card consists of the subject heading followed by the citation (month, day, year, page and column), followed by the entry (headline or brief description). Photos which accompany the article are noted and occasionally the length of the article is noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Seven drawers of cards.
