SCOPE OF INDEX:  The ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION MAGAZINE is a Sunday supplement containing articles primarily on regional, state and local topics. The index provides complete author, title and subject access to articles which have appeared since the magazine began in 1932. Special attention is paid to items relating to Georgia or Georgians. Regular weekly features, such as recipies, fashion and advice are omitted from the index.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index. The title card is the main entry and includes date, complete pagination and author. Also listed at the bottom of this card are the author and subject tracings. The author card may have as many as five or six titles on one card, arranged chronologically. Additional cards are numbered. A subject card will have the subject heading typed in red at the top with titles and their complete citations listed chronologically beneath. Library of Congress subject headings are used as far as possible. The author, title, and subject cards are interfiled in one alphabetical order.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Approximately 26,600 cards in the index. Index about 20 new articles each month.
