AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Fond du Lac Public Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The index is local in scope indexing only events and news from the city or county of Fond du Lac. One hundred fifty five (155) fairly broad subject headings are used. The emphasis is on political and business news rather than personal news. However, some obituaries of prominent persons are indexed. Excluded from the index are weddings, club meetings and similiar social news.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names in one alphabetical order. There is only one entry per card. Each entry consists of a brief description of the article plus the citation (newspaper name, month, day and year). Occasionally a photograph is noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Approximately 36,000 cards are currently in the index. Around 60 entries per month are added to the file.
