AVAILABILITY:  A published index. Each annual volume costs $30.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Regional, national and international articles are indexed. Also included are letters-to-the-editor; editorial columns & cartoons; unique advertising; and reviews of concerts, motion pictures, plays and other forms of entertainment. Obituaries which appear as news items are indexed. Excluded from the index are routine advertisements; non-news items (gardening, household hints); and regular columns devoted to summaries of articles which appear elsewhere in the paper. In addition, no article less than 5 column inches in indexed unless its content warrants. Most crime news is not indexed.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The index is divided into three sections: (1)SUBJECTS, (2)CORPORATIONS, INSTITUTIONS & ORGANIZATIONS and (3)PERSONAL NAMES. Within each section the entries are arranged in alphabetical order by subject or name. Within each subject, the entries are arranged in chronological order. The entry statement, a brief summation of the article content or type, is followed by columns of numbers which indicate the month, day, year, page and column where the article began. A following asterisk (*) indicates a photo or illustration. Page size is 8�x11 inches and consists of computer printout reduced in size.
SIZE OF INDEX:  The entry counts for the years of the index are as follows: 1962 (9,430); 1963 (8,120); 1964 (8,363); 1965 (7,597); 1966 (10,268); 1967 (7,538); 1968 (28,580).
