AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. The index is located in the Olmstead County Historical Society. The index is not available to the public. The user must ask the librarian to perform the actual search through the files. Photocopies of located cards will be made at prevailing rates, if desired.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Subjects include businesses, schools, government, townships, hotels, hospitals, ... etc. The personal name section supposedly includes the important name(s) mentioned in every newspaper article.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in two sections: SUBJECTS and PERSONAL NAMES. The subject cards are usually handwritten and the personal name cards are typewritten. There is usually more than one entry per card. Entries consist of a brief description of the article followed by the citation. The citation consists of the name of the paper, the date (mo-dy-yr) and the page and column.
