AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the State Historical Society of Missouri.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Items relating to Missouri and Missourians are indexed by subject and name. Obituaries, vital statistics, and local news items from the area served by each newspaper are indexed. National news, except as ite relates to Missouri, is not indexed.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in alphabetical order with both subjects and personal names interfiled. There is one entry per card consisting of a brief description of the article, the newspaper name, the month, day, year, page, and column.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 180,000 cards in the entire index.
