FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index printed on 8½x11 inch pages. A computer is used to store and manipulate the entries, and a phototypesetter is used to produce the monthly index. The index consists of two sections, SUBJECTS and PERSONAL NAMES. Within each section, the entries are arranged in alphabetical order by subject heading or personal name, and then in chronological order. Entries consist of a brief annotation followed by the citation. The citation consists of the month, day, paper, section and page where the article appeared.
SIZE OF INDEX:  A current monthly index contains about 4000 entries (50 pages).
