AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this index exists. It must be used at the Alderman Library, University of Virginia.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The Cavalier Daily is the student newspaper at the University of Virginia. The index covers a wide range of university activity.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  This index is maintained on 3x5 slips of paper. Some of the slips are typed, but most are handwritten. Subjects and personal names are interfiled in a single alphabetical order. There are multiple entries on some slips. The citation, consisting of the volume number, issue number, page, month, day, and year, precedes the entry statement, which is usually the headline of the article. Accompanying illustrations and pictures are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Approximately 300 entries per month are added to the index.
