SCOPE OF INDEX:  This index envelopes all the Clarksburg papers from 1810-1825 which remain in existance in the Archives or on microfilm at the West Virginia Universtiy library. The newspapers indexed here portray the important events and everyday affairs of a town in the thoes of progressive expansion and growth. The index consists primarily of personal names and very general subject headings (agriculture, banking, crime, elections, Indians, inventions, etc).
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. Each entry consists of the subject heading or personal name, a brief annotation (sometimes), an abbreviation for the newspaper, and the month, day, year, volume, and issue number.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Index totals 93 pages.
