SCOPE OF INDEX: The index includes names felt to be historically noteworthy and events of local significance. In addition to the newspaper, the index also includes references to Yuba and Sutter historical society publications, the minutes of the Marysville city council, and various other local history publication. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: The original index was a 3x5 card file arranged in alphabetical order with both subjects and personal names interfiled. The handwritten entries consist of a brief description of the article, the month, day, and year. References to the newspaper have the word APPEAL stamped in the upper right hand corner of the card. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 150,000 to 200,000 cards. |
