AVAILABILITY: The current author of the column, Arline D. Lowd, has compiled yearly indexes from 1969 to date. The first eleven years of the column were also indexed (1952-1962). This index is available at the Maine Historical Society, 485 Congress St, Portland ME. Photocopies of each of these indexes may be available from their respective sources. The 1952-1962 index occupies 90 pages. The 1969-1979 index occupies 82 pages. Interested persons should write for prices. No index for the years 1963-1968 has been compiled. |
SCOPE OF INDEX: Indexes the weekly genealogical column titled WHAT'S IN A NAME. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. Entries are arranged in alphabetical order by personal name. All entries on a single page are from the same chronological year of the newspaper. Entries consist of the month and day of the paper, the question number, the personal name, and any additional information of importance. |
