SCOPE OF INDEX:  This index was compiled by students under the direction of Martin Kaufman, Ph.D., Professor of History at Westfield State College. Every article on Massachusetts news was indexed, excluding advertisements. Material is arranged under broad subject headings (some of which have been subdivided).
FORMAT OF INDEX:  This is a handwritten 3x5 card file index, although a few cards have been typed. Each entry contains a brief description of the article or editorial, the month, day, year, page, and column.
