NOTE:  In response to our request for information, the curator of the collection replied: "Since the newspaper index cited ... relates only to the Grand Forks Herald for a five year period and is no longer being indexed, I do not believe it would be worthwhile to include this index in your reference book." Further inquiries received no reply. According to information in our files taken from correspondence with the reference librarian at Fritz Library, the index was started in 1959. It is in book form through 1962 and in card form from 1963-1966. Material emphasized includes Grand Forks, the Grand Forks Air Force Base, and the University of North Dakota. Very few personal names are included. "Plans for continuing this index are shelved.,,
