SCOPE OF INDEX:  This index ia a record of the obituary notices in two Boston newspapers. The editors of the paper made a particular effort to cull all obituaries from all newspapers received from various parts of the country. As a result, they obtained fair national and uniquely good regional coverage.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  There are twelve original typed and bound volumes. In the five volume published edition from G.K. Hall & Co. there are 5,097 pages. Personal names are arranged alphabetically. Each entry includes age at death, place of death and sometimes other information. The citation includes newspaper name, month, day and year.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 120,000 obituaries listed.
