AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this 3x5 card file index exists. It must be used in the Boston Public Library. Library staff will make simple searches at no charge. Photocopies of index cards are available for $3 per page (about 6 cards).
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Reports of first performances of MUSICAL WORKS which appear in newspapers and magazines are indexed.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index. Arranged in alphabetical order by name of composer. The entry gives the name of composer, name of work, date and place of premier performance and information about the performing organization, conductor, soloist, etc. Citation information includes the name of periodical, date of issue and page number. The index includes all reported first performances in New England, the United States and the world.
