AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this 3x5 card file index exists. It must be used at the James V. Brown Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Chiefly a personal names index. Includes obituaries, birth announcements, marriages, political activities, sales of land, court cases, advertisements and various other items.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index. Each card consists of personal name (last name, first name), followed by a brief statement of the persons position or reason for being included in the index. Following this are one or more citations consisting of the name of the paper, date and page number. These citations may include additional descriptive phrases concerning the content of the article. Entries are typed on the cards and the index is in one alphabetical file.
SIZE OF INDEX:  There are 35 very full catalog drawers of cards. There is usually more than one entry per card.
