AVAILABILITY:  Copies of this 26 page index are available from Ruth Browning for $2.50 each. The index and corresponding copies of the newspaper are available for public use in the Missouri Historical Society, Columbia MO.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Limited to obituaries, death notices and memorials reported in the newspapers indexed.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  Book-form index consisting of 26 typewritten pages. The index is in two sections. 23 pages consist of a chronological listing of articles. The name of the paper is shown at the top of the page. Each listing begins with the date (mo-dy-yr) and is followed with a summary of the content of the article, including name of the deceased (underlined), date of death, reason for death, other family names, religion, occupation and any other information of importance to a genealogist. Three additional pages of the index are an alphabetical surname index which guides the user to the correct place in the chronological listing where that name will be found. The page size is 8½x11 inches.
