AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index currently exists. It must be used in the Cherry Hill Free Public Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Indexing highlights all news and information directly relating to Cherry Hill Township. Editorials are indexed under topic discussed as are letters to the editor. Weekly Columns are indexed. Marriages and engagements are indexed under the subject headings MARRIAGES and ENGAGEMENTS. Individual photos are indexed under a general subject heading (BANK EMPLOYEES, CHILDERN,...etc.) rather than the name of the individual. Obituaries are indexed. Omitted from the index are advertisements, routine social and sporting events, fashon, and local gossip. NOTE: Some retrospective indexing prior to 1972 is being done. This indexing tends to be somewhat less inclusive except for information about Cherry Hill Township.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in one alphabetical sequence. The original entries are handwritten and later typed. The index may contain both styles. The library is in the process of transfering the 1972-1977 cards to a 5-year cumulated book index. Each entry consists of the headline or very brief description. Each citation indicates the month, day, year and page where the article will be found. Photographs and diagrams which accompany the article are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  At the present there are about 8000 cards representing some 3000 different subjects. There is usually more than on entry (citation) per card.
