AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used (with certain restrictions) in the R.R. McCormick Library at the Chicago Tribune.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The subject coverage is very broad and highly detailed. It includes editorials (designated "Ed"). No one can explain why the former indexer chose to skip years or why the years indexed were selected. However, for the years covered, the index is quite good.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names interfiled in the same alphabetical order. Each card is limited to articles from the same year. This year is shown in the upper right hand corner. Multiple entries (articles) may be cited on each card. Each entry consists of the headline or brief annotation, followed by the month, day, page and column where the article appeared.
