SCOPE OF INDEX: Indexes only those editorials which appeared on the editorial pages of the Chicago Tribune. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index in two parts. Both parts are filed in alphabetical order. Part 1: At the top of the card is the title of the editorial and the date it was printed and the page number. Following lines contain words or phrases representing all of the subjects or keywords which could be assigned to that editorial. Part 2: This is a subject index to part 1. Each card is headed with the subject headings or keywords assigned to editorials in part 1. Then, in chronological order, are listed the titles and dates of all editorials which were assigned that subject. A single card represents all of the editorials from one year which covered that one subject. The year is typed in the upper right hand corner of the card. |
