AVAILABILITY: Only one copy of this index exists. It is available for use in the Circus World Museum Library. |
SCOPE OF INDEX: Only articles dealing with circuses or circus performers are indexed. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: The index is presently in the form of handwritten entries in chronological order on sheets of paper. A single sheet will have entries from one or two years worth of a single newspaper. The entry consists of the headline or brief notation and the date of the newspaper. Occasionally the page number is also noted. Until these entries are transcribed and placed into some logical order, the researcher will be required to scan every sheet looking for information. The Circus World Museum Library does maintain an alphabetical index on cards to circus subjects which appeared in BILLBOARD. This may prove useful in determining a specific year when searching the newspaper entries. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 80,000 entries |
