AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Corning Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Intended for local history and does not include items pertaining to county or state unless they directly affect the community of Corning. Included are obituaries, business enterprises, some biography, political items and community affairs. Limited indexing done on local organizations and local news items. Excluded are vital statistics, advertising, letters to the editor, social and sports events.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names in one alphabetical order. Entries consist of the newspaper name, date (mo,dy,yr) and then a brief statement of the content of the article indexed.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 1200 entries in total
