SCOPE OF INDEX: A comprehensive index to the microfilmed edition of this weekly newspaper. The emphsis is on placing index entries under the subject of an article, rather than a corporate-name heading. Personal names are included as subject headings. Most articles, including reviews of books, theater, and movies are indexed. Excluded from the index are the following National Observer features: Top News of the Week, Letters to the Editor, Crossword Puzzle, Better Bridge, The Lesiure Scene, and Regional Theatre. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A book form index printed on 8½x11 inch pages, three columns per page. Both subject and personal names are interfiled in the same alphabetical order. Entries consist of a brief description of the article, followed by the month, day, and page number where the article appeared. |
SIZE OF INDEX: Over 10,000 entries per year. |
