SCOPE OF INDEX: All obituaries reported in the newspapers. Obituaries for children under 12 years of age were not indexed during the early years of the project. As staff is available to do continuing indexing and to review earlier indexing, these obituaries are being added to the index. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index, arranged into one alphabetical arrangement by surname, then given name. Each card consists of the name of person, birth and death dates, age at death, place of death and citation (volume number, year, and page). |
SIZE OF INDEX: By rough estimate, there are presently 80,000 cards. Continuation is irregular, depending on staff time. No updating has been done during the past three years. |
