SCOPE OF INDEX: Includes only stories about Montana, Great Falls and Montanians. It is an information file with local and state information that is difficult to obtain in any other form. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 5x8 card file index divided into three sections: GREAT FALLS; MONTANA, and OBITUARIES. Within each section, the cards are arranged in alphabetical order by subject or personal name. The GREAT FALLS section and MONTANA section are themselves divided into two sections. The "current" file holds any cards that are not completely filled with entries, regardless of date of last entry. The "back file" includes all filed cards. Both the current and back file include "see" and "see also" cards to help guide the user. Entries consist of the headline and/or a brief description of the article, followed by the citation (mo-dy-yr & page). Accompanying pictures are noted as well as editorials. |
