SCOPE OF INDEX: The Fredricksburg Ledger newspaper began publication in 1865. The four-page paper was issued two times a week. Pages 1,2 and 4 were chiefly items of national nature or advertisements. FORMAT OF INDEX: A book-form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order by personal name (last name first) or subject, followed by a brief annotation. Preceding each entry is a number which refers to the issue number of the paper. A list of issues and corresponding dates is shown at the front of the index. |
SIZE OF INDEX: 8,500 entries in one 174 page index. |
