SCOPE OF INDEX: The material is varied, but concentrates on political, criminal, legal, and business matters. There are no standard subject headings and no uniformity of indexing practice. Cross references are very few. Coverage from year to year varies greatly. In some years coverage of the index was slight, in other years it was heavy. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order by subject. Entries consist of the headline, followed by the date (mo/dy/yr), page and column where the article appeared. |
SIZE OF INDEX: There are 72 file drawers of cards with about 1000 cards per drawer. About half the cards have multiple entries. |
