AVAILABILITY:  A published index. Annual subscriptions consisting of 12 monthly editions plus an annual cumulation are avialable for $120 per year. Reduced rates are available for multiple subscriptions. The index is abailable for public use in the History and Travel Department of the Minneapolis Public Library and Information Center.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The index attempts to include all local and regional news and omits only those items which will be covered by nationally published indexes. In general, daily columnists are omitted unless the subject matter has local or regional importance. All public opinion polls are indexed. The index omits most sports events which occur on an almost daily basis, but includes championship events and biographies. it regularly omits birth, engagement, wedding, and obituary announcements unless the persons are well-known and the subject of a special news story.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index printed on 8¼x 9¼ inch pages, two columns per page. About 20 pages per month or 240 pages per year. Both subjects and personal names are interfiled in the same alphabet. Each entry is complete on a single line. An entry consists of the subject heading on personal name, followed by the citation(year-month-day-section-page-newspaper), and then followed by a brief description of the article. An asterisk (*) before an entry denotes accompanying illustration. The type consists of all upper case computer printout reduced in size.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 4,500 entries per monthly index.
