AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Library of the Montana Historical Society.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  All material indexed relates to Montana only. Topics include biographies, place names, and general subjects.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with one entry per card. Each card begins with a subject heading or personal name at the top. Line 2 gives the year and name of newspaper. Line 3 gives the balance of the citation (month, day, section, and page) and gives the title and/or a brief description of the article.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 10 entries per month are added to the index which currently has approximately 14,000 entries.
