AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Morrisson-Reeves Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Index covers only local and county events. It endeavors to cover any change of location or ownership of business and industry, outcome of local elections, change of pastors of local churches, deaths of local citizens, burials in local cemeteries, local art and theatre and other important local stories. Omitted from the index are routine social and sports events, marriage announcements and routine crime news. Vital statistics, promotions of former residents, and school events are normally omitted.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index in two sections: PERSONAL NAMES and GENERAL SUBJECTS. Entries consist of the headline and/or a brief annotation, followed by the citation. The citation includes a code for the newspaper, the date (mo-dy-yr), section, page and column. Accompanying illustrations are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 450 entries per month are added to the index which now has over 42,000 entries.
