AVAILABILITY:  Only two copies of this book form index exist. They must be used in the Nebraska State Historical Society. Photocopies of the index could be provided at the prevailing rate.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The index is a name and subject index to persons, organizations and subjects appearing in the Beatrice Express. An effort was made to index the name of every adult each time it appeared. In some cases, where only initials of the person's name are used, there may be multiple entries for the same person.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. Both subjects and personal names are interfiled in the same alphabetical order. Personal name entries often have only one or more citations following the name. Occasionally, there is a brief description of the contents of the article. The citation consists of the year, month, day, page, and column.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 50,000 entries in total. There are 2,488 pages in the entire index, bound into 6 volumes.
