AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of the card file index exists. It must be used in the Oak Park Public Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Covers in detail all Oak Park news, events, issues, organizations, and personalities. Includes editorials and regular columns only when they contribute information or points of view on local matters. Includes obituaries. Special attention is paid to Frank Lloyd Wright, Prarie School architecture, and Ernest Hemmingway. Omitted from the index are: letters to the editor, police reports, calendars, announcements, sports reports, social news, advertising, reviews of local movies, births and marriages.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names interfiled in the same alphabetical order. Usually more than one entry per card. Entries consist of the headline, a code for the paper, the month, day, year and page where the article appeared. Accompanying photographs are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 200 entries per month are added to the index which currently occupies about 35,000 cards.
