A published index covering the period 1966-1970 is no longer available. A copy is available for use in the Orlando Public Library and other Florida libraries.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Indexes only the home edition of the paper. An attempt has been made to cover local news as comprehensively as possible, and statewide news on a more selective basis. Obituary notices are indexed separately in the Genealogy Department of the Orlando Public Library, and are not included in the newspaper index. Articles about prominent local residents which appear on the obituary page are included in the newspaper index. Omitted from the index are: News items not on Florida; the sports section; minor fires; crimes; accidents; social news; and ordinary weather stories.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The published index (1966-1970) was printed on 8½x11 inch pages, two column format, typewritten. The sample shown below is from the published edition. The current index (1971-Current) is a 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order by subject. Many of the personal names are filed under the subject heading BIOGRAPHY. Entries consist of the headline or a brief description of the article, followed by the citation. The citation consists of the name & edition of the paper, month, day, year, page, section and column. Accompanying maps and charts are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 250 to 300 entries per month are added to the current card file index. The published index was issued in two volumes (vol.1:FLORIDA and Vol.2:ORANGE COUNTY & ORLANDO) totaling 943 pages.
