SCOPE OF INDEX:  All articles in the three newspapers are indexed daily. Names associated with each article or editorial are also indexed. Local news as well as national coverage is noted and bylines are indicated where identified. All evaluations or reviews of products (automobiles, cameras, etc.) in each newspaper are indexed by type of product and product brand names. All reviews (books, movies, drama, TV, records, restaurants, etc.) are indexed and the Newspaper Index reports as a grade (A-F) the reviewers' opinion.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The microfilm version is offered on 16mm microfilm. It is completely cumulated monthly. The entire alphabetical index for the period Jan 1979 through Dec 1981 will be contained on one roll of film. The film is supplied with a special high-speed microfilm reader (The ROM 3 COM Terminal) which uses an electric motor to quickly move the film to the desired letter of the alphabet. A new roll of film is provided each month. The old roll must be returned to the publisher. Each entry consists of the headline and/or a brief description of the article followed by the citation. The citation includes the name of the paper, volume number, date (month, day, year), section, page, and column. The length of the article in column inches follows the page number. Accompanying illustrations, charts, graphs, tables and portraits are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  More than 170,000 entries per year.
