AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Seattle Public Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Subject information on Seattle business and economic conditions (as opposed to company information, which is filed by company name in the Washington Companies File). Government documents and periodical articles, as well as newspaper articles, are indexed into this file. Seattle over-the-counter stock quotes are included in this file.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order by subject. Each card consists of one or more entries. An entry includes the headline, code for the paper, month, day, and year. Many of the indexed articles are clipped and placed into a vertical file in chronological order. This vertical file currently occupies about 125 folders.
SIZE OF INDEX:  At least 50 newspaper articles per month are added to this file which currently occupies 4 drawers of cards.
