AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. It must be used in the Freiberger Library at Case Western Reserve University.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Limited to news material (including editorials) relating to Cleveland and Ohio. National news is excluded unless it deals primarily with Cleveland or Ohio. Other exclusions include: sports, fashions, recipes, letters to the editor, society news, service columns (e.g. health hints, action line...), national syndicated columns, individual death notices (however news obituaries of prominent people are included).
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 4x6 card file index arranged in alphabetical order with both subjects and personal names interfiled in the same alphabet. A single card (subject) will usually have several entries. The entries are handwritten and consist of the headline followed by the month, day, section and page number where the article appeared. Editorials are noted.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 2200 cards in the total index which was begun as a pilot project.
