AVAILABILITY:  A photocopy of this book form index is available from the publisher for $2.50 each. Copies of the index are available for public use at the Indiana State LIbrary (Archives Department).
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Only articles of genealogical value are excerpted for this index.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. The index is divided into two sections: EXCERPTS and INDEX. The EXCERPTS section is a chronological arrangement consisting of brief descriptions of the articles selected for their genealogical value. These articles are those with heavy emphasis on personal names. Some of the excerpts are quite lengthy. The INDEX section is an alphabetical listing of surnames, followed by the page number(s) within the EXCERPT section where that last name appeared. NOTE: Maurice Holmes is currently working on a second volume covering the period 1866-1870(?). It will be the same style of index and will be made available as a hard bound book at a cost of about $18. Write for availability.
