AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. The newspaper index is interfiled with the local history index. The newspapers have been indexed only when a staff member was available. It is not known for sure which years have been indexed, however they have been indexed for the "last several years".
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The newspapers are indexed selectively with emphasis on local history. Included are items about Trenton and Mercer County. Articles about city events, city government, businesses, industries, and historic places are included. Obituaries and biographical articles are indexed on a selective basis. Omitted are most crimes, advertising, and social events. Indexing of events in the surrounding townships is highly selective.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index with both subjects and personal names used as subject headings. Entries consist of the headline, a brief description (if needed), and the citation. The citation includes a code for the paper, the month, day, year, section, and page.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 250 entries per month are added to the current index.
