SCOPE OF INDEX:  Limited to marriage notices. The entry under the surname of the groom gives the fullest information available. Under the surname of the bride, only sufficient information is given to locate the main entry (name of groom).
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. The index is arranged in alphabetical order according to the name of the bride and groom. Entries under the name of the groom are considered the main entry. They consist of the name of groom, address, code for marriage (m), name of bride, address of bride, date of marriage, name of newspaper, date of issue (month, day, year) page, and column. If no addresses are give, it may indicate that both parties to the marriage were residents of Troy NY. It may also mean that the place of residence was not mentioned.
