SCOPE OF INDEX: The index is very comprehensive. An attempt was made to list every article which appeared in the paper with emphasis on local people and events. Although coverage included state and national news, the index contains mostly names of individuals and the events of their daily lives. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index with subjects and personal names in a single alphabetical order. Entries are typed with a single entry per card. Entries consist of the headline or a brief description of the article. Many of the articles did not have headlines. The citation includes an abbreviation for the newspaper title, the day, month, year, page and column. |
SIZE OF INDEX: There are approximately 20,000 entries. |
