SCOPE OF INDEX: Includes all articles of local interest concerning Westerly, Stonington, Pawcatuck, and surrounding towns and villages in Rhode Island and Connecticut. Includes information on local banks, businesses, schools, politics, etc. Marriages and deaths are indexed. Excluded from the index are statewide and national news, notices and reports of meetings, routine sports articles, property transfers, and letters to the editor. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: This is a 3x5 card file index with multiple entries typed on the cards. Entries consist of the headline, page, month, day, and year. Marriages and deaths are filed under those terms as subjects, and then arranged on cards by first letter of the surname. |
SIZE OF INDEX: About 120 entries are added to the index each month. The index currently occupies 17 card catalog drawers. |
