SCOPE OF INDEX: Included in the index are the following: 1. News and events of local interest. 2. State and regional news if of historical or impact value. 3. Occasional surrounding town news (New Britain was once a part of the historically older towns of Berlin CT and Farmington CT). 4. Editorials if of current or historical interest. Almost no social news (weddings, anniversaries, etc) is indexed. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: A 3x5 card file index which is divided into two separate files: GENERAL SUBJECT and BIOGRAPHY (PERSONAL NAMES). Each of these files are arranged in alphabetical order by subject or name. Entries begin with the citation (month, day, year, page, and column), a code for an accompanying photograph (an asterisk), and then the headline or a brief description of the article. |
SIZE OF INDEX: Approximately 300 cards per month (averaging three entries per card) are added to the current index. |
