SCOPE OF INDEX:  This index covers the state of Montana with emphasis on government, education, cities and towns, industry, history, recreation, agriculture, and people. National news, syndicated articles, and wire service releases are not indexed.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The index is typed on 3x5 paper slips. It is divided into two sections: GENERAL SUBJECTS and BIOGRAPHICAL & OBITUARY. There is one entry per slip consisting of the citation (month, day, year, page) followed by the headline.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Over 8 catalog drawers with approximately 115 slips to the inch.
