SCOPE OF INDEX:  This card file has accumulated as part of a continuing interest in Dade County Missouri genealogy. In addition to typed items from the 1874-1900 newspapers, a portion from 1900-1945, and clippings pasted on cards from 1945 to date, the index also includes card file indexes from the Dade County Marriage Records as published by the Dade County Historical Society; card file indexes from the Dade County Cemetery Records as published by the Dade County Historical Society; and the indexes for the Federal Census for Dade County for 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. The index also includes family notes contributed by individuals.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index arranged in alphabetical order by surname. Prior to 1945, the cards indicate the newspaper name and date, along with a brief description of the event (funeral, wedding, birth, etc.). Since 1945, a copy of the clipping has been pasted onto the card, along with the name of the newspaper and date where the article appeared.
SIZE OF INDEX:  The index grows at about 1000 entries per year. The total is now about 35,000 to 40,000.
