AVAILABILITY:  The early indexes are book format. It is not known how many copies were reproduced, but these volumes and the card file index from 1925-Aug 1975 are available for public use in the University of Oregon Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  The index cites articles on Oregon and its people. Articles indexed which originated outside the state must have had a newsworthy or significant impact on Oregon.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  Entry statements consist of the headline (amplified if necessary), the newspaper name, month, day, year, section, page, and column. The presence of illustrations, maps, charts, and editorials are indicated.
SIZE OF INDEX:  1850-1910 (7 volumes); 1914-1916 (5 volumes); 1919-1929 (11 volumes); 1925-Aug 1975 (card file index containing about 215,000 entries).
