AVAILABILITY:  Copies are available for purchase from Arkansas Tech University Library. Write for prices. Annual indexes are available for each year 1965-1977. Retrospective indexes are available covering 1819-1829 and 1830-1839 (in preparation). Copies of the index and corresponding newspapers are available for public use at the Arkansas Tech University Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  Concerned primarily with materials about Arkansas people, places and events. Included are all items deemed to be of statewide interest. Residents of other states are includes if they have an Arkansas background. National news is indexed only if Arkansas people are directly involved in the events. Letters to the editor and editorials are indexed selectively. Obituaries of prominent Arkansans are included. Omitted are routine sports and social events.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  The current year of the index is a card file which is retyped into a book format when the year ends. The book's pages are 8½x11-inch in size and run to about 300 pages. The index entry is a brief description of the article, usually not the headline. The citation furnishes the month, day, section, page and column.
SIZE OF INDEX:  Current indexes average about 16,000 entries per year.
