SCOPE OF INDEX: A general index to a newspaper which has often presented the native's views on issues important to Alaska.. |
FORMAT OF INDEX: There are two types of entries found in this index. 1. Subject (or descriptor) entry. Under a subject heading (or descriptor) are arranged all of the articles dealing with that topic. Each entry consists of the title of the article (headline), followed by the volume and issue number, the month-day-year and the page and column where the article originally appeared. 2. Title entry. Throughout the index, interfiled in alphabetical order along with the subject headings, are the titles (headlines) of indexed articles. Usually, the user is then refered to the appropriate subject heading where the complete citation for the article will be given. NOTE: Within each subject heading, the entries are arranged in alphabetical order by title (headline) instead of chronological order. The index is typed on 8½x11 inch pages. |
