AVAILABILITY:  Only one copy of this card file index exists. Its use is restricted to serious researchers. It must be used in the Greensboro Public Library.
SCOPE OF INDEX:  An index to Guilford County marriage and death records from the files of the Greensboro Patriot. Also includes references to the book (?) North and South Carolina Marriage Records by William M. Clemens and to the marriage records formerly in the possession of the Rev. William D. Paisley.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index consisting of 4500 cards arranged in alphabetical order by surname. Marriages are filed under both the husband's name and the wife's name. Marriage entries consist of both names, date of marriage, place of marriage and the citation (source and date). Death entries consist of name, occasional family relation and date of death, followed by the citation. The index has also been put into book form on 8½x11 pages (91 pages).
SIZE OF INDEX:  There are approximately 2800 entries of marriage records and 1400 entries of death records from the Greensboro Patriot. There are about 4500 entries in all.
