SCOPE OF INDEX:  Includes references to articles dealing with local politics & government, business & industry, education, cultural and social news and events. Heavy emphasis on personal names, including reports of marriages and deaths of Greenwich residents.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A 3x5 card file index divided into four distinct sections: GENERAL INDEX; PERSONAL NAME (BIOGRAPHY) INDEX; MARRIAGES INDEX and DEATHS INDEX. Within each section, the cards are arranged in alphabetical order by subject or personal name. Within the BIOGRAPHY and GENERAL INDEX, each card contains one or more entries on a single name or subject. Each entry consists of the headline, followed by a code for the newspaper, the date (mo-dy-yr), page and column. Within the MARRIAGES and DEATHS INDEX, each card will have several names in alphabetical order plus a citation. These two indexes are broken down into smaller groups of cards which list all of the marriages and deaths for a particular group of years (perhaps three or four years). That is why each card will contain several different names in alphabetical order.
SIZE OF INDEX:  About 300 entries per month are added to the current index.
