SCOPE OF INDEX:  Marriage notices 1856-1866 from Ann Arbor newspapers held by the Michigan Historical Collections.
FORMAT OF INDEX:  A book-form index typewritten on 8½x11 inch pages. The primary index is arranged in alphabetical order by name of the groom. Each entry begins with the date of the marriage, followed by the name of the groom, hometown of groom, name of bride, hometown of bride, place of marriage, etc. Separate indexes are in alphabetical order by name of bride and names other than the bride and groom.. The citation includes a code for the paper, plus the month, day and year when the article appeared.
